Through Siberia by Accident: A Small Slice of Autobiography

Plans to visit USSR foiled by an unhappy accident on a train, Murphy is holed up in Eastern Siberia, hence the title. She gives an intimate view of this vast land and its people, the mind-numbing beauty of the landscape, but also seeing the results of man's attempts to subdue it. While feeling great sympathy for her injury, as a reader I can only be glad that it gave rise to this fascinating book.
