Randall and the River of Time

The first in a series of novels Forester wrote about an English inventor. Randall, the hero of the tale, is trapped into a loveless marriage as the story opens, and later accused of murder when his wife's lover falls accidentally to his death from an upper-story window. Once he is cleared of the charges, Randall decides to emigrate to America, feeling that England has no place for him anymore.
