A prowler had snuck through the village of Frazer's Mills giving old Mrs. Norbury palpitations, shaking the unflappable composure of Hattie Bluett at he Public Library and leaving an axe outside a certain bedroom at the Wakefield Inn. By ten-thiry sinister footprints led away from the Carringtons' stately home...and the elderly gentleman in the parlor bedroom was dead. Gamadge, the great master of criminology, soon knew which citizens were keeping secrets. He would also soon know who was hiding a motive. But would it be soon enough to keep another victim from going to the grave?
