David & Della

David Mahooley is a would-be playwright who has suffered writer's block ever since his girlfriend, Kim, tried to jump out the third-floor window of Mrs. Midgeley's biology class. Della Jones is a talented but troubled actress who has had bouts of dipsomania ever since the last play she starred in closed overnight to standing, booing ovations. It was inevitable that they should meet.Della soon has David dazzled by a string of revelations about herself that are so startling, his play about cannibal children inviting their math teacher home for dinner seems like kindergarten fare. She inspires David to write again -- to write a play about wild, passionate love. Della will be its star. It will be his masterpiece. But, as Della points out, there's one small problem. Emotionally, David is a big zero; there might be some difficulty writing the male lead. Unless...
