Bible on Cassette: Complete Old and New Testaments–King James Version

In 1604, King James I of England authorized that a new translation of the Bible into English be started. It was finished in 1611. The translation was by 47 scholars, all of whom were members of the Church of England. In common with most other translations of the period, the New Testament was translated from the Textus Receptus (Received Text) series of the Greek texts. The Old Testament was translated from the Masoretic Hebrew text, while the Apocrypha were translated from the Greek Septuagint (LXX), except for 2 Esdras, which was translated from the Latin Vulgate.Orginally titled: "THE HOLY BIBLE, Conteyning the Old Te?tament,AND THE NEW: Newly Tran?lated out of the Originall tongues: & with the former Tran?lations diligently compared and reui?ed, by his Maiesties speciall Comandement..." Latter deemed the "Authorized Version" (1824), or "King James Version" (1884), this translation version quickly became the standard for English-speaking Protestants. Its flowing language and prose rhythm has had a profound influence on the literature of the past 300 years. The KJV is public domain in the United States.
